Bank of America stems from the Massachusetts Bank, opened in 1784 as the third US commercial bank. BOA serves people, companies and institutional investors alike. It offers checking, credit card (VISA), debit card (EDD), personal or health savings (HSA) and home loan services (mortgage) only, but through the Merrill Lynch Wealth Management scheme and the US Trust, it also provides investment management, wealth transfer, estate planning, philanthropic management and many other services.
