Scottrade login issues

To log into the account you opened at a local Scottrade branch office for the first time, go to https://trading.scottrade.com to access the Scottrade community login page. Enter the account number you were provided upon registration. Also enter your password in the designated box. The initial password consists of the first four letters of the account holder’s last name and the date of birth in 8-digit format. The first letter is capitalised. The first time you log in, you will be required to provide a new password and to set your security questions and answers.

Any subsequent logins will require you to provide your account number and new password of choice in the designated boxes.

You may designate a certain Scottrade webpage as your homepage by selecting your preference from the drop-down list labelled ‘Start Page‘ on the login form. Your options include the Stocks/ETF Trading, Option Trading, Mutual Fund Trading, CDs and Bond Trading, Balances, Positions, Order Status, Watch Lists, Quotes and Research, Knowledge Centre and Banking pages.

Note that you may select your display language from the ‘Language‘ drop-down list below. You have a choice of English, Standard Mandarin Chinese and Taiwan Mandarin Chinese. The current instructions are in English, only.

After checking that the details you entered are correct, click the ‘Login‘ button to sign into your account.

You need to be logged into your account to be able to download the ScottradeElite trading platform. You may access ScottradeElite online at any time for real-time charts and graphs, trading ideas and market opportunities.

If you forgot account number or other information, call the telephone number listed on the top right-hand side of the of the login page.

Password reset

If your password or account number are incorrect, you’ll receive a visual error message. If you receive a ‘Login Down‘ message, try logging in later. In the event that you can’t login or have issues entering your login details, click the ‘Forgot Password?‘ quick-link on the ‘Secure Customer Login‘ page, or go to trading.scottrade.com/PasswordReset. Resetting your password is a 4-step process which requires you to have access to your e-mail registered address. If you don’t have online access to your e-mail inbox, please use the ‘contact your local branch office‘ quick-link on the form. Please follow these steps:

1. Enter your account number in the designated box, on the ‘Reset Your Password’ form. Enter your registered e-mail address twice in the boxes labelled ‘Account E-mail Address‘ and ‘Confirm E-mail Address‘, respectively. Click the ‘Continue‘ button below. You will receive an e-mail with the password reset instructions.
2. The next step asks you to verify your account. In order to do so, enter your verification code sent via e-mail. Click the ‘Continue‘ button below.
3. Step 3 requires you to enter your new password twice in the designated boxes. Click the ‘Continue‘ button below.
4. This confirms you have successfully reset your password.

If you forgot account number or other login information, use the customer service number provided.

If you still can’t login to your account, use the telephone number listed on the right-hand side of the ‘Secure Customer Login’ page, or call your local branch office, quoting the error message shown on the login form. If a ‘Login Down‘ message appears, you may only be able to apply in branch at that particular time.

Create Scottrade account

To sign up for a Scottrade account online, click the ‘Open an account‘ quick-link on the login form, click the ‘Open A New Account‘ button on the upper right-hand side of the www.scottrade.com website homepage, or go to https://apply.scottrade.com.

Alternatively, use the Brokerage Application form available for download from the Forms Centre and send it to Scottrade by post, e-mail, fax or drop-off.

The top section of the online application form lists all the necessary documents needed for opening an online account, as well as a description of the Options Account alternatives. Go to http://options.scottrade.com for more information and read the Educational Resources section at http://options.scottrade.com/education.shtml for guidance and advice.

The application form requires you to enter your first, middle and last name in the designated boxes, along with the e-mail address. The home address fields do not accept PO boxes. The ‘State‘ drop-down list includes all US states, as well as the option to select Armed Forces mail locations.

Depending on the type of account you would like to open, check the boxes at the bottom of the application form which refer to the Individual Brokerage Account, the Joint Brokerage Account and the IRA (Individual Retirement Account). For account types not mentioned above, including Guardianshipt, Trust, Partnership and Corporate accounts, you need to check the ‘View all account types‘ box. A telephone number is compulsory. Click the ‘Continue’ button when you’ve checked that the information is correct.

The next page will ask you to select among a range of options to describe how you plan to use your account. Check the boxes corresponding to your needs in the trading frequency, history and value sections.

On the next page, select your citizenship and employment status, and then provide occupation and employer information in the designated fields. You do not need to be an employee to apply for an account. You may sign up as self-employed. If you are the employee of a securities firm, exchange or FINRA, you must check the designated boxes on the form. If you’re applying as an authorised person on behalf of another or would like to make a co-application, tick the appropriate check box. Next, download the ‘Signature Page‘ from the Form Centre and send it to Scottrade.
